What We Offer |
CompaniesSongbirds offers 6 performing arts companies. Delta Pheta Birds, Songbirds, Sugar and Spice, Divas, Drama Queens and Lt Peeps. If you’ve ever wanted to be a part of a Platinum award winning Choir, this is the place to be. Students range from ages 4 to 18 have the chance to rehearse and perform a wide variety of material. Songbirds is a Broadway stage and screen Performing arts center. What does that mean? We specialize in music that you would either hear on the radio or see on the stage and screen. All Company choirs are required to compete in at least one competition a year (max 3). Songbirds and Divas are also required to also participate in at least one of the workshops (If there are any offered) at Competition a year (required workshop to be chosen by studio.) The studio brings in a New York actor once every year to do a workshop. This workshop is a requirement for Songbirds and Divas and Optional for all other Companies. These companies also participate in Davison Pumpkinfest, Pumpkinfest parade, the Davison Christmas parade, and several community events. Fund raisers are available for all students who participate. This is not a requirement, however it does help defer the competition costs. Class is scheduled in ½ hour durations and occurs at the same time weekly. Class includes instruction in the following techniques: Breathing, relaxation, sound production, Character development, Vocal placement, Vocalises (Warm-ups), Unison singing, Song Choice, Vocal Styles, Blocking, Basic acting skills, Singing while in motion, performance skills and how to work with a Microphone. We also offer a Competition team. This team is by invitation only and a audition is required. Students are placed in classes according to their ability. Promotion is considered on the basis of individual achievement and is at the discretion of the directors. Our studio rooms are equipped with state of the art sprung floors, sound systems, graphic viewers, microphones and performance piano’s. Every student is offered the opportunity to participate in the end of the year recital if they wish.
